Does anyone know how i could attach a small timer to the front of a rowing boat?

it needs to be able to not move and be able to remove and put on a different boat. its supposed to replace the drumpeople normally use on dragon boats to keep in time. its for my electronics class, thanks!

I know people who use duct tape to attach timers to their boat, it doesnt move but you can always take it off again. How to explain it......they duct tape it to the small space in front of them. Would that help?
