Does anyone know how life is in Australia?

I'd like to move to Australia with my girlfriend. Is it easy to get residence there? How do they treat foreigners? What is the average salary there? If I'm a law school graduate here do I have to pass the bar in Australia? Is it hard to find a job there?

  1. You need to study the Australian Immigration website.

It has all the information you need.

    http://www.immi.gov.au/

Life, here, in Australia is fantastic.

We are a multicultural society and "treat" people from other parts of the world the same way as we "treat" each other.

    Australian Skills Recognition Information (ASRI)

    A-Z Occupations List

Go to the list and click on the category which you fall into under L, there are 3 -

    Legal Practitioner - Barrister

    Legal Practitioner - Solicitor

    Legal Professionals not elsewhere classified

It will explain everything about moving here and working using your law degree.

  2. Australia sounds like a good place to go. I really don't know to much about it however, I wanted to wish you luck and tell you to follow your heart.

  3. The Australian average salary in February 2008 was:

Full-time adult ordinary time earnings $1,123.30 pw

Full-time adult total earnings $1,173.50 pw

You can check some Salary Surveys to get a better idea for your own occupation:

  4. It's easy to get residence here if you have a qualification or skill that is in demand. If you don't have a qualification or skill that is demand it can be quite difficult. I'm not sure if law is one of them but you could look into it further. You might also need to do some extra study of Australian law. Like the person above suggested, check with the law institute/society in the state you want to move to. Here is the one for Victoria: http://www.liv.asn.au/

The economy is good in Australia so finding work is fairly easy and salaries are higher than the world average. It's different for every field- jobs that are high in demand earn higher salaries. Here's a site that has some figures: http://australia.emigratenz.org/salaries... (this site also has info on grocery prices, tax, buying cars and houses, etc.)

Australia has many immigrants, particularly from Asia and Europe so you should have no problems.

  5. Life is great in Australia and there are plenty of jobs available, our economy is going better than most. It is the most multicultural country in the world, 25% of the population were born elsewhere. It is quite difficult to immigrate, you need a skill in demand. I presume lawyers are on that list of skills, see www.immi.gov.au for the details. I suggest talking also to the law society of the state you are interested in living in. Your girlfriend would also need a skill on the list of occupations in demand to immigrate. Good luck.

  6. nope
