My main point of asking this is to find out when my wife and newborn daughter can live with me again. I leave for Boot camp the 24th of September and my baby's due date is Sept. 27th:-( But, anyway, just looking for an idea of when i can see my girls again!! Thanks, in advance, for the response.

  1. AECF A school is UNACCOMPANIED.  Most C schools are ALSO Unaccompanied as none of them meet the 6 month threshold.

the first time you will see them is at the Christmas break standdown the last 2 weeks in December.  you may be allowed one or both weeks to fly home at your own expense.

they will not be permitted to join you until you arrive at your duty station..assuming you get CONUS orders and OCONUS orders.     you will NOT get accompanied Overseas orders if you are below E4..and only MAYBE if you are an E4( most FC/ETs are push button crows..E4 out of school).

  2. I'm not Navy so I may misunderstand, but what I read is that it is at Great Lakes, IL outside of Chicago. The FC training is 11 weeks and the EC training is 13 weeks. I know in the Marines and Air Force during this time your wife and baby can come visit. I know that's not the same as living with them, but it's at least a little light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck with your training. I hope this link helps.

  3. My husband just joined the navy and is in the AECF also. He has basic for 9 weeks at Great lakes then goes to A school for 9 months in Chicago. But we were told I couldnt live with him in Chicago even though he will be there for 9 months. Good luck  to you and your new baby!!

  4. My husband is in FC school... He lives of base with me and our daughter. You'll have to fill out a live ashore package once you leave RTC (boot camp) and go to the Main Side of Navsta Great Lakes.

Mrsjvb... please explain to me what, me and about 5 other spouses that I know personally, are doing here in Great Lakes living with our Husbands (And 1 wife) who are all in AECF A school if we aren't allowed. We all have completed Live Ashore packages signed by an officer telling us that we can... is there something you know that Navsta command doesn't because I'm a living contradiction to what you posted

  5. Well, FIRST I'd suggest you have your recruiter check the CANTRAC (Catalog of Navy Training Courses)

Sadly, I don't have access to the CANTRAC, but from other sources I've found:

For ET A-School there are 3 phases: 89, 96, and 89 CALENDAR days... that means not including the weekends. Yikes almost 9 months !!

Regarding seeing your Wife and soon-to-be daughter... Recruit Training is 8 weeks long, and then you transfer over to the A-School... and possibly wait for a class to form up.

    GOOD LUCK

  6. My 'A' school was around 34 weeks.

My first 'C' school was around 40 weeks.

Later I had a 'C' school that was only 2 weeks.

Then another that was 8 weeks.

And my last 'C' school was 10 weeks.

  7. It is 167 days long. By the way go for the ET and not the FC cause its better work overall unless you wanna be a FC. ET can fix anything whatsoever electronic. Thats what i signed for originally was AECF.

  8. Its about 30 weeks long. But your wife and kid can come live with you during A school i believe.
