Does anyone know how long after you first start using "Nuvaring" it becomes effective?

The Dr. or the nurse should have told you,  to use a back up method for the next 3 months...........3 months..........  to make sure everything is in place.........

I just asked my planned parenthood nurse advisor..use backup for 7 days, and you are protected. But I would wait at least a month just to make sure.

You're supposed to use a back-up method for at least the first 14 days. If at any point you go longer than a week w/o one, you have to start all over when you put the new one in. Your local pharmacist would be able to answer this question, as well as the Dr. who prescribed it to you. If you're not sure about something, never hesitate to call them. That's what they're there for and they expect it.
