Does anyone know how long it takes a rapeseed (Canola) plant to grow from seed to harvest?

  1. it is usually planted as a winter cover crop in late august to mid september and harvested the following late june to mid july. we are talking almost a year from planting to harvest.


  2. Canadian practice is to plant in mid May and harvest  mid fall.

    Because this crop tends to stay green if there is soil moisture, harvesting may be delayed until frost. ( or FAIL if it gets hail).

    We do plant as a pasture crop in August, but that crop is not for seed.

  3. Plant winter rapeseed four to six weeks before winter wheat. It

    will be ready for harvest about the same time as winter wheat.

    Production practices and equipment are similar to that used with small grains. About 8 months from planting to harvest.
