  1. Never go via Delhi or any indian city for that matter. Indian police in the airport are disgusting.

  2. As far as I know there are no direct flights from the UK to Nepal since Royal Nepal Airlines pulled out of Gatwick a few years ago.

Most people fly to Delhi in India (about 8 1/2 hours) and catch a connecting flight from there to Kathmandu (another hour).  The adventurous do the Delhi-Kathmandu leg overland by bus.

Other possibilties include flying with Emirates to Dubai and changing flights here for Nepal Airlines, but that is probably still at least 10 hours plus extra connecting and check-in times.

  3. From London to Kathmandu, it will take about 10-12 hours flight time depending upon the route and airlines. For example, Gulf Air takes you from London (Heathrow airport) to Bahrain in 6h45m and from Bahrain to Kathmandu in 4h45m. And you may have a transit at Bahrain of about 3-5 hours. Similarly, Qatar Airways takes 11h30m with about 3 hours layover time at Doha. While checking the flight, you may see the exact flight time.

I heard that many people avoid transit from Delhi airport due to misbehaving nature of airport personals especially to people going to Nepal hence,  you may try to avoid that route.
