Does anyone know how many credits you have to be enrolled in to qualify for financial aid?

  1. It varies.  For most aid programs (including student loans) you must be enrolled at least 1/2 time, but based on federal and institutional policies you may have to be enrolled full-time.  Since this varies from college to college, you should get specific information on the different programs from a counselor in your college's financial aid office.


  2. In most places you need to be considered a full time student. I know at some schools this is as few as three courses. Refer to the website for financial aid in your area. You could simply call them and ask.

  3. If you are poor and qualfify for the Pell grant, you can be enrolled in as little as 1 college credit hour and get a small grant to pay.  If you want to take out student loans, most schools require you to be at least half time... many want you to be enrolled full time.

  4. 12 usually makes you a full time student
