Does anyone know how many marine batteries it would take to run the average household for 24 hrs?

The average house uses 1,020 watts per hour.  See the first link below.  This is  24.576 kWh in one day.  An average marine battery can provide 100 Ah over 20 hours.  See the second link.  You'd need about 14 batteries to run the average house for 24 hours.  

This is assuming a very efficient inverter to change the 12 volt to 240 and 120.  You might have to add a few batteries to make up for inverter losses.
