does anyone know how many men were rescued from HMS Holcombe which was sunk off Bougie in 1943

  1. At 14.45 hours on 12 Dec, 1943, HMS Holcombe (L 56) (Lt F.M. Graves) was hit by a Gnat from U-593 and sank northeast of Bougie, Algeria. The survivors were picked up by USS Niblack (DD 424). Earlier that day, the U-boat had sunk her sistership HMS Tynedale (L 96) near convoy KMS-34 and was then chased by several escort vessels, which finally sank the U-boat the next day after a 32 hours chase.
