I am doing a project in my Criminalistics class and I got the job of being a Forensic Anthropologist. One of the questions I have to find is what is the average annual salary a Forensic Anthropologist makes per year? I can't seem to find the answer on the internet, so if anyone can help me it would be helpful. Thanx.

  1. The field is so new that you are going to have a great deal of difficulty finding a dollar amount that will do justice to the question.

There is much evidence on the Internet and elsewhere stating that the majority of Forensic Anthropologist at the PhD level have occupations in academia as college professors.  Fewer have full time positions with the FBI or law enforcement agencies.

Depending upon the degree one holds and the type of work, starting positions could be as low as $25,000 to $30,000 for a bachelor's degree to upwards of $100,000 as a top doctorate consultant in demand.

    The AAFS site states:

"Income in the forensic sciences varies greatly depending upon your degree, your actual job, where you work, and how many hours you work."

"Some work in forensic laboratories and work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Others work out in the field on digs and may work different hours. Still others are "on call" and work after their regular shift and receive overtime or compensatory (comp) time."
