Does anyone know how much a good Hi8 camera costs?

Does anyone know where I could buy one in the Bay Area, San Fransico, Santa Clara, Moutain View, ect.

if you want a good camera, not just a playback device for your old tapes, don't get Hi8 as that is obsolete. At the very least go to miniDV. it has been on the market for about 10 years and you can get some very nice professional or prosumer units used for a reasonable price.

Hi 8 are not out of era now.So buy DV

if you have some cassettes to be trnasferred then you have three options.

1.Buy 8mm Digital 8 camerav,which has FIREWIRE port ,so u can get ready to capture out put.

2.buy Hi 8 camera and a capturecard(like dazzle $90)

3.buy Hi 8 camera and buy DV camera (Like Most Canon models) with "pass through" feature..this pass through DV camera take your analog input and give AVI output from its Firewire port.
