  1. a lead role on broadway pays the top dollar im guessing $50,000.

  2. At the least, you would get paid $1,500 per week. It sounds good now, but when you are actually in New York City, living expenses; etc. can take a toll on that sum. Also, since theatre is not steady work, you won't always get that income, unless you are in a big hit on Broadway like Wicked, but that isn't very likely. Break a leg and I hope to see you on Broadway someday!

  3. Equity scale for a principal role (not just the lead, supporting leads are considered Principals) on Broadway is $2000 per week, with increases for re-signing, asst choreographer, etc.

Agents can negotiate any amount above that the producers are willing to pay for the individual.

There is also something called a Most Favored Nations contract, but then it gets complicated.

  4. At the top of the scale are stars like Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in "The Producers", each pulling in $50,000 per week. This is more money than most well known Broadway stars earn, however, and is reflecting that "The Producers" is a massive hit. More typical are star salaries in the $30,000/weekly range. Mid-range actors on Broadway earn $5,000 or so each week, a multiple of the $1,252 union minimum, based on size of role and negotiating clout. When actors move away from Broadway, the pay scales drop abruptly. Actors at Lincoln Center and the Roundabout, both very prominent and upscale houses, get the minimum of $728 per week. Star salaries off-Broadway, for actors such as Alan Bates or Vanessa Redgrave, run $1,000-$1,500 per week. Contract

minimums range between $440 and $763, depending on the size of the house.
