can anyone tell me how much the international departure tax is if i will be going to:

1.Krabi via Air Asia from Malaysia

2.Bangkok to Singapore via Air Asia

And if there is any domestic departure tax that needs to be paid if i'll be flying from Krabi to Bangkok?

My trip is finally pushing through next week and i'm really excited. If you can provide me with the amount and in which currency it's accepted, i'd appreciate it so that i can prepare the money in advance and have it tucked away under my 'travel money' stash :)

  1. There used to be an international departure tax for international flights leaving Thailand of Baht500, cash, payable on departure. There still is a tax but now airlines have to include it in the price of the ticket so you don't pay the tax in cash when you leave as you have already paid when you bought the ticket.

I often fly on airasia - they give you a breakdown of the costs when you buy you ticket online - OK I don't pay much attention to the breakdown because te price is what the price is - but normally there is some airport tax included in the price.

I don't think I paid any separate, cash, departure tax when I flew from Penang to Bangkok - which I have done a few times, but its been a while. Same for internal flights in Thailand - don't have any memory of paying cash departure tax.

  2. for number 2 i believe the international departure tax is 500-800 baht. you have to pay in baht when leaving thailand. if you live in malaysia then I'm  not sure for what your departure tax is for leaving the country or if there is even a charge.

  3. There is a departure tax but its now part of the ticket price.

As of February 1st 2007 its 700 Baht for international and 100 Baht domestic flights.

From Malaysia also included in Ticket price

    Departure Tax:

International Airport Departure Tax: RM 40 (403.THB)

Domestic Airport Departure Tax: RM 5  (50 THB)

    So approximately ($35 U.S. total)

    1.Malaysia to Krabi (400Baht)

    2.Bangkok to Singapore (700Baht)

    3. Krabi to Bangkok (100 Baht)
