Does anyone know how much time could you receive for carrying and handgun that does not belong to you.?

Where in washington dc, and my friend needs to know how much jail time could you receive and also he is only 22 and is already on probation for assault.

  1. I'm not sure about Washington DC, but I know in Florida you would be looking at about 20 years to life.


  2. If his assualt is considered a felony then he should not be in possion of a fire arm.   If he had it in his his house for protectin he is probably ok but if he had it in a car then it could be construded as mischeivious conduct with intent to use.  He could get probation or go to jail.

  3. You didn't specify who would be carrying the handgun, you or your friend. If your friend is going to be carrying the handgun and is on probation, then he would be going to jail because I'm sure that carrying any type of weapon would be in direct violation of his court probation. Especially if his original assault charge was a felony and not a misdemeanor. He would be looking at least a year in lockup. Give the gun back to it's owner and keep your nose clean.
