Does anyone know how old you have to be to apply/lease for an apartment ?

im going to be 17 aug.20 i do have an income and im currently in school and i do have a child , i was wondering do i have to get emancipated to have a place of my own ie: i live in indiana

Yes. You would need to be emancipated to be able to enter into a legal contract such as a lease. Even then your in for a hard time finding a landlord that will rent to you because of your age.

You must be 18 to enter into any legal contract unless you are emancipated, however...most people won't even believe you or care if you say that you are emancipated... they just say no way!  They don't want to take any chances on being without legal recourse.  You can get someone else to cosign a lease with you though (an adult).
