Does anyone know how to MAKE an embroidery hoop?

It doesn't need to be durable. And it doesn't necessarily have to be a hoop shape either. I just need it for this one project. I'm embroidering my boyfriends college name on a blanket I'm making him, and I already tried pinning on the letters and stitching around them, but it came out crooked and the fabric kept bunching up. It was very frustrating. So, if I could just make a quick hoop, even if it's out of cardboard or something, that'd be great.

  1. That what I was going to say. Is to fuse the letters on with fusable web and then whip stich around them so that it looks like embroidery. You could also use fabric Glue. Aleenes is the best.

  2. hoops aren't that expensive.  you can get the traditional round ones.  they also have some that you put together that makes a square or rectangle.

think it would be easier than to make one.

you could get stiff cardboard mark the size of area needed and fabric glue to it.  but seems like it would be hard to sew.

  3. This isn't a hoop but it is an easy solution. Use double backed fusable web. Press the one side to your letters and cut them out . Remove paper and press them in place and you can stitch your letters on , no twisting , no gapping. I've used this many times it works for me. No muss, no fuss

  4. You can pick up the wooden hoops at Wal-mart for about 2.00 but in a pinch I have used a picture frame without the glass and backing. If your project is small enough just use thumb tacks to hold it place if the project is alot bigger such as in your case, roll the fabric up on the sides and use those hair clips with the TEETH like you would use to bunch your hair up in the back.
