I am british and currently live in palestine with my husband. We are wanting to start a family and we were discussing adoption.

we do want to have our own children but we would love to adopt and bring the child up as one of our own with our kids. Does anyone have information on adoption procedures in Palestine? I know there is many needy children and with the fighting between israel n palestine there is many children without parents. Its just i wouldnt know where to contact. Any help would be appreciated x*x

  1. Do you intend to return to the UK? If so, your first place for research is the UK Embassy or High Commissioner to find out their requirements.

If you can qualify to bring that child home with you, just make sure that your adoption procedure in Israel is totally legal in every way, because can you imagine the tragedy of taking that child into your heart and home and then having to decide whether or not to leave her/him???

Definitely make sure that the adoption agency you hire is licensed by the Israeli government. The agency will guide you through the process.

  2. As far as I know Palestine/Israel does not have adoption programs, but it does not make adoption hopeless to you.

You can contact an international agency (there are many out there that you can find doing a web search) and find out what ones work with families stationed overseas and that can work with your situation. Talk to several before making a choice on going with an agency and they will best be able to direct you to the information you are looking for.  You may also be able to contact the British Embassy if there is one near you or if your husband is an American, the US consolate office/Embassy to find out if they have information about adopting under the current situation.

Unfortunately not all countries have adoption programs for people that are not natural citizens or family to the child in some way.  Some countries will allow adoptions to non citizens but only for special needs children. It really depends on the country you are trying to adopt from and the laws they have in place surrounding adoption situations for international and domestic cases.
