Question:

Does anyone know how to find out what is blocking incoming ping requests?

I have a laptop I'm trying to connect to remotely and I can ping out of it to any PC on my network but no PC can ping back into it. There's no IPsec policy installed and all firewalls are turned off. Any ideas as to what might block incoming requests?

  1. Certification bootcamp-http://mcsdelearning.info/

  2. What is your OS?

You have to allow ICMP Echo on your exceptions on the Firewall to allow Ping. It can be blocked on your router or wireless access point as well.

Also if you are behind a NAT router with a private IP address, this private IP address is not routable. Do you know how many 192.168.0.1 addresses there are in the world....millions.

  3. try using tracert and make sure the the ICMP services on the computers are running.

If the laptop is running Vista, you may need to "trust" the network
