I bought a mini chopper 200cc to customize and make road legal in my state. The person I bought it from moved from california and lost all the paperwork for the chopper that he got from the dealership which was some company overseas in asia I think . I have already gotten a new V-twin motor installed and put all the idems (lights horn turn brake lite)ect to make it street legal in NYS. But i need paperwork to give to DMV to register it. I dont want to file for a salvage title unless I have no other opt.Does anyone know how to find out who made the chopper i do have a Vehicle ID number on the frame under the triple tree where it is suppost to be. There is also a black plate with the EPA standards and bike specks there also. Proving it is street legal from factory as required but the USA . But I need to contact maker for paper work please help someone ....

  1. Take some pictures of it, post them to the web and provide a link to them.

Someone may be able to identify it.

  2. Why don't you start from another angle?  How many makers of 200cc mini-choppers do you think there are?  You could do an image search, compare images if the appearance is distinct enough. Then when you have narrowed it down a bit, ask makers if they made yours.  Because it's not a chopper at all is it, (they did not make a factory bike and then chop pieces off they just made it to the spec wanted).   At least it would give you some place to start.

  3. Most of these mini bikes are sold WITHOUT a manufacturer's Certificate of Origin or any other documentation to be made street legal. They cannot be titled nor are they legal to ride on public roads in any state of the US that I'm aware of. Lots of these bikes are imported and sold to people ("Can be made street legal! Check with your state!") thinking they can eventually register them and ride legally, but usually they can't.
