Does anyone know how to fix a battery compartment that has acid on the conections?

I bought an old ceramic figure which is supposed to move and want to fix it for my husband . One of the little matal tabs that is supposed to stick out is missing. Only the outside part is missig though the inside metal piece is still there.

I'd say first clean everything off with a solution of baking soda and water - that's a base, so it will get rid of acid residue.  To fix the electrical tab, your best bet would be to either go to an electronics store and get a battery holder, or look around at battery-operated toys and see if one of them has a tab that looks like it would fit your figure.  Then, remove the tab from the battery compartment of the new device and solder it in to the ceramic figure, so the figure will have clean working battery contacts.
