  1. Use a product called Armillatox. Pour over the nest and it kills them instantly without damaging your lawn. Be carefull though it also kills moss.

  2. Find where the hole is and block it up with some soil and just keep checking that they aren't getting out any other way!!

  3. Spray can preferably hairspray

    Lighter

  4. I once got rid of a huge nest in one of my raised beds by pouring boiling water into the entrance hole.  It only took about 2-3 kettlefuls, and of course it left the surround plants untouched.  You may get a little scalding of surrounding grass, but it'll sort 'em out.

  5. Without damage no. But the most effective means, and relatively green, is boiling water. A couple of kettles is enough to flush away the most persistant, will usually be strong enough to destroy the egg rooms too.

But, it will leave you with a hole in your grass that you wont be rid of until probably next spring.

  6. You can get ant powder from most DIYshops/Garden Centres ect. which kills the ants like slug pellets and this does not effect your garden. Do not use boiling water as this DOES NOT work! Trust me I have tried but had to go out and buy the and powder in the end because the boiling water doesn't work. This is because the ants built their nest to keep water out (otherwise they would drown in rain) so it does not get rid of the nest.

  7. Check out my article.  Even though it discusses ants in the house it also talks about ants outside.  Step # 3 may help you.
