Do you fly to another belgian city and then make your way to Bruges? I cant seem to see if it has an airport of its own.

  1. Bruges is too small for its own commercial airport.

When we went to Bruges it was on a ferry from Hull, which we reached by train from Manchester. This was booked through a travel agent - you get the ferry in the evening, sleep on board and land at Zeebrugge the next morning. A bus meets you at the landing for the short drive to Bruges.Come late afternoon you get back on the bus back to the ferry for the overnight trip back.

As for flying, be careful, Ryanair flights don't actually go to Brussells, they land in a suburb 25 miles south of Brussells (the opposite direction from Bruges). You'd have to take a bus into Brussells, then catch the train.

Antwerp is another big city near Bruges, not sure what air connections from England's NW you might find though.

You could also try eurostar via London. The ticket to Brussells includes train travel anywhere else in the country on the day of your arrival.

  2. There are no flights to Bruges from either Liverpool or Manchester. You would have to fly to Brussels then take the train to Bruges which takes approx  hour and costs between 13 and 20 pounds depending on travel times.
