Does anyone know how to go about getting or seeing an obituary from 1989?

or trying to locate where someone is buried.. trying to find out where a relative is buried, and her family has moved away...

  1. check the newspapers for where they used to live.  Most newspapers now have an on line archive you can research.  They usually charge you a fee for viewing things past a certain date.  I know our local papers let you go as far back as 1994 for free but charge for anything older.

    also check the library for that area for microfiche of newspapers from 1989.  A lot of newspapers and libraries were just entering the computer age in 1989 and they may still have some old style research materials available from that time.


  2. Check the local newspapers from her area--they would have the 1989 obituaries on file.  The obituary would state where her funeral service was held, and where she was interred.  From there you would have to visit the cemetery and ask the keeper where her plot is located.
