  1. well it depends where u want 2 set it 2. but u are suppose 2 push your hands upward like superman. but over the net u just superman at the same time push them over the net. it is hard 2 explain in words. um.. if u go 2 school ask your volleyball coach or your p.e teacher. they might be able 2 help u.

  2. Make sure when you end the set your fingers are spread apart and you look like your flying. When you go to set the ball I do what's called a pre-hop. Which is basically you start with your right in front of your left and you do a left-right-left, bring your hands up, ready to set, and set the ball. If your fingers are hurting make sure your setting them off with your finger-tips!

  3. yea, it's hard to ewplain, but your finger a should be up and like your going to scatch the air but relax them, so the are loose, make your hands like a window, or a dimond and when the ball comes just push up and away a little but

    that should help!

  4. Set to yourself so you can get used to it first. After than set to your hitter. Keep trying and soon you will be one of the best.

I'm a setter myself for my volleyball team

  5. How many fingers touch the ball you set anyways? cause sometimes, if your not used to the 6-finger tossing (the thumb, the pointer and the middle fingers in each hand)  then it would surely hurt your fingers.

Your timing may be off and your fingers may be over relaxed that it bends when the ball comes in contact with them.

plus, if the ball is coming from a very high point, you might as well do a jump set so that the impact of the ball on your fingers would be lessened by the force of your jump. This would also give you more control on the ball. otherwise, if the ball is coming from way up high be sure that the time it touches your fingers is lesser than usual (physics actually lessen the time, lessen the impact)

the coolest way to practice is to draw a small box on the floor then practice setting the ball straight upward without you getting out of the box.

  6. i posted this in another one... and there is a comment after mine that is also helpful: this is what i posted:

Always set from forehead level not eye level.... and square up to your target. for actual technique... i set for my school team and we went undefeated in regular season and came first after playoffs for our area... we came second at regionals so we didn't move on to provincials... anyways that aside... when setting keep a good base with your feet about shoulder width apart, and use your knees to help "push" the ball.. like what others have said... make a triangle with your thumbs and forefingers... try and get a feel for the ball by placing your hands on it like how they would be on it when you are setting it.. also try to move your hands as one... that way they get to the same spot at the same time and you can minimize the spin on the ball... like i said earlier set from your forehead not eye level... and the best thing you can do is just to keep practicing... works best with a partner who can keep passing or tossing the ball back to you and also encourage you while you practice

heres the link to the other question i answered with this exact answer..

  7. Try ordering a "setter ball". It is a specially made volleyball that is heavy-weight. It helps build strength in ur fingers.
