  1. Bay leaves repel weevils.  They can be put in the containers with the foods, though I've never done that.  I just put a leaf or two in each cupboard or on the pantry shelves.  I haven't had a problem with weevils since I began using bay leaves years ago.

I did a quick search and these were among the sites mentioning bay leaves for keeping weevils away...

  2. two different situations...one is they came in with the flour so if you seal the flour, you are sealing them inside to start off

the other situation is that you have other foods already contaminated with them...getting rid of them and then thorough cleaning the storage area will keep you from having them and then if they ever show up in the future you probably have brought them in with foods that you have bought

  3. Here's what I did.  I threw all the dry goods out and started over.  I washed the all the cupboards out.

I bought new flour and kept it in a clear glass canister, with a good seal.  Then I left it sitting on the counter, so it could get light.  Viola!  The bugs never got to the flour.

I kept all my dry goods in sealed canisters after that.  This link has a lot of good information for you, too.

  4. I keep my flour sugar and anything else like that in containers so the bugs cant get them.
