This is a Slovak dish that I grew up on.

  2. Actually its Hungarian, and its called Gulyas. Google that and some good ones should come up.

  3. GOULASH SOUP

    1 lb. round steak

    3 onions, chopped fine

    4 tbsp. bacon fat

    4 tbsp. flour

    4 oz. tomato paste

    1 tsp. caraway seed

    5 c. water

    1 tsp. ground marjoram

    2 tsp. salt

    15 drops Tabasco sauce

    2 tsp. Accent

    2 tbsp. paprika

    1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

    Brown meat in hot fat; chop into tiny pieces. Brown onions slightly; add chopped meat. Sprinkle with flour and cook 5 minutes. Add rest of ingredients and cook about 1 hour.

  4. Hungarian Goulash Soup

    4 x Med Onions, peeled & chopped

    2 x Lg cloves Garlic, crushed

    1/2 c Shortening or salad oil

    3 1/2 tb Paprika (Hungarian)

    3 lb Lean Beef Chuck (1" cubes)

    2 x Lg Tomatoes, peeled & choppe

    2 ts Caraway seeds

    1 1/2 ts Dried Marjoram

    1 ts Minced Lemon peel

    8 c Water

    2 ts Salt

    1/2 ts Pepper

    4 x Med Potatoes, peeled & cubed

    Instructions:

    Cut chuck into 1" cubes.

    Saute onions and garlic in heated shortening or oil in a large kettle

    until tender. Stir in paprika; cook 1 minute. Wipe beef cubes until dry.

    Brown cubes, several at a time, on all sides. Add tomatoes, caraway seeds,

    marjoram, lemon peel, water, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil. Lower heat

    and cook slowly, covered, 45 minutes. Add potatoes and continue to cook

    about 20 minutes longer, until potatoes are tender. Serves 10.

    Goulash soup eh? Well, you'll need a machete and some protective gear! Those Goulashes are mean suckers and they give a terrible bite. They are usually found in real dark places, like under a huge rock or sometimes in dark alleys.

    Okay......so before you go out and get yourself a ''Goulash Soup'' say 10 Hail Mary's and pray to God that you come out alive! The Queen of the Goulashes might give you a whipping you won't forget. Be careful out there! That Tigress is a mean one! hehe
