  1. Here is some info and a few different recipes for wheatpaste, which as far as I know, can be made with pretty much any starch. Very popular with the punk crowd for flyering public surfaces.

I know it isn't exactly what you asked but I think it is pretty much the equivalent (at least I hope so!). I hope it helps you out, anyway.

  2. Mix together flour and water - its a pain to wash out of whatever you mix it in, but it works well

  3. 1 kg of cornstarch, then put ample amount of water.... or till the starch becomes heavy and sticky... but not dough-like... aun... then heat it... continuous stirring while cooking it until it looks like paste... aun....

  4. Tagalog ....gawgaw =  Starch

    Definition: Starch

    Starch

    Noun

    1. A complex carbohydrate found chiefly in seeds, fruits, tubers, roots and stem pith of plants, notably in corn, potatoes, wheat, and rice; an important foodstuff and used otherwise especially in adhesives and as fillers and stiffeners for paper and textiles.

My research indicates that "Gaw-Gaw" is just ordinary starch.  I could locate no specific recipies for this. I suggest you try ordinary corn starch available in any grocery store. I suspect that they use a normal starch and add shrimp or fish paste to it to arrive at the flavor they are seeking.  I worked with many filipinos in the Virginia Beach, Virginia Post Office, years ago. I never heard mention of this. Beyond that, you might try filipino chat rooms on the web. I hope that this was helpful.
