In the 70's one of the companies that make cake icing, pIllsbury, or Duncan Hines? Had a recipe to make brownies using their icing. I used to make them all the time. Does anyone know how they were made? The main ingredient was the icing, but something else was added to it. I would really like to find this recipe. Thank you to anyone who has it to share.

  1. I'd never heard of these, but I like a challenge.  I found this recipe that you use brownie mix and chocolate icing in the batter.  Don't know if it's what you're looking for.  I might try it just out of curiosity.

    CAN 'O FROSTING BROWNIES

    1 pkg. brownie mix

    1/2 c. oil

    1/2 c. water

    1 egg

    1 can chocolate frosting

    1 c. sour cream

1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Mix brownie mix, oil, water, and egg. Beat 50 strokes by hand. Add can of frosting and sour cream, mixing well. Spread in greased 9x13 inch pan and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool. Cut into bars.

To make German Chocolate Brownies: Substitute can of coconut pecan frosting and add 1/3 to 2/3 cup chopped pecans to topping.

  2. Since you are probably not the only one who liked that recipe it is most likely posted at http://www.recipezaar.com

you can search for it using either frosting mix brownies or by ingredients.

warning! there about a thousand brownie recipes there.
