  1. You can either use the backgrounds created by Yahoo, which you can't adjust in any way (but they fill the entire screen) OR you can create a custom theme. If you want to use the pre-made background, click on the "My Page" link next to your "Home" link. Then, at the top under that line of links is the word "Theme: [name of whatever theme you currently have]." Click the "Change Theme" link that's directly under those words. Select one and click the "Apply Theme" button. If you want to customize your theme, see below:

    - Click the "Edit Custom Theme" link toward the top left of your "My Page" to upload the image that you want to use.

    - If you want an image to fill the entire 360 space, it should be based on your screen resolution first. There are lots of screen resolutions and it's really impossible to get the background to fit the same way on all computer screens, with the tools that Y!360 provides. A good starting point is a image that's at least 1024 pixels wide by 2100 pixels in height. Upload the image as a single background image and choose to tile it.

    - You probably won't find an image with those EXACT specifications. If you go big (at least 1000+ pixels on each dimension), look for a high-quality image. It's best to start clear and work your way down.

    - You'll have to play around with the image to get it right (lower resolution, cropping, and other size adjustments get it under 360 specifications) by using a photo editor like Microsoft Paint, which is on most Windows computers in the Accessories section. I personally have an old version of Adobe Photoshop that I use. Typically it's the height dimension that needs increasing and the decreasing of quality upon saving the image as a JPEG.

    - Also, you will have breaks depending on the length of your blog area, but at least you can get your top page to have no breaks. The content of what's on your Top Page also affects the height of that area, which affects the height you should make the image.

OR you can get really fancy. Instead of uploading a single image tiled, you can upload an image for the top and one for the bottom. If the images have the same color background and you make the page background that color, then it will look seamless. ;-)

Here is a directory of wallpaper/background sites: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2006/12/... . You can also search for images via keyword searches on Google at http://images.google.com . There is a dropdown menu on the top left, where you can chose to search for extra large images. Right-click on the image and choose "Save Image As" or something similar to save an image to your hard drive. Another place to search is http://photobucket.com .

You may want to TRY joining these groups, as they may provide some good tips as well:

REMEMBER: Your background picture must be JPEG formatted (.jpg, .jpeg, or .jpe as the extension) and under 250KB in file size.

TIP: If you are browsing public 360 pages and you see a theme that you like, click on "Make This Theme Mine" link to overwrite your theme with that one (located below the personal profile pic module - left side). This excludes pictures the person may have uploaded (i.e. customized images in the background).

    Good luck! Enjoy!
