  1. I am trying to figure out why you would want a surface that could NOT be maintained! You can use an electric finish sander, grading down sand paper to about 700 grit as a finish, that should leave it pretty shiney...You can polish Corion with fine metal polish that will put a shiney surface on it, but it will show every scratch, every rub, ...and getting that shiney surface to be evenly shiney would be an art form! If you are really unhappy with the counter (I cannot imagine why anyone would be unhappy with corion...so easy to care for...then tile over it! Just remember, the shinier the surface, the softer it is! Good luck, Goldwing

  2. I would not recommend it unless all you intend to do is look at it.

If you already have it installed you will need to have it sanded to the point that all existing scratches and holes are gone. You will progressively sand it with an orbital sander until you get a light sheen with 600 grit. Then begin buffing with fine scotchbrite type pads and water spray until you have burnished any swirl marks from the 600 grit out. Next use a bonnet polisher and polishing compounds made for polishing lacquer or high gloss finishes. Your final finish should be a product like Gel Gloss or other burnishing wax that has no polish. Wax like Pledge could be used to make it look a little "wetter".

With a high polish on Corian every scratch and possibly every joint and  flaw will show. That is why most Corian qualified installers buff the surface flat.

  3. I wouldn't think it's  possible because:Corian® is easy to clean and is certified kosher. Because Corian® is nonporous, stains do not penetrate the surface. With proper cleaning, Corian® also resists the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria. Corian® is also heat and scratch resistant. If something is (nonporous), it will not take gloss or other items like  polyurethane .
