i found this cool old typewriter at a yard sale the other day, it's a smith-corona, manual, and thats about all i know. it does say "corsair" on it too.. but when i was using it i discovered that in the middle of the paper, the type deck thing stops moving and the letters overlap each other. i know absolutely nothing about typewriters but my dad's gf told me that it is where a tab is set but she didn't know how to "release" the tabs... can anyone help?

  1. Since nobody else has answered, I thought I'd give you this site http://www.instruction-manuals.co.uk/cat... which is a U.K. site that gives you a phone number and address for a place that has Smith-Corona operating manuals. You may want to contact them to see if you can get a booklet with instructions, which should tell you how to release tabs and more.

Another option is to contact Smith-Corona to see if they can give you some information. Their customer service can be found at  http://www.smithcorona.com/Customer_Serv...

I wish I could be of more help.
