  1. If the pig wants to wear a nose ring I think you should let it.  But I would draw the line at tattoos.

  2. Tie the ring to a string.  Then tie the string to a doorknob.  The back the pig up till the string is taught.  Then  slam the door really fast! It wont feel a thing!

  3. Almost sounds like this is the only pig you have.

As a pig grows, so does the size of the rooting.

One large pig, one large mess, even to the point of uprooting the fence post which contains him.  A loose pig can be a pain to get back in.   We once chased a younger pig for 4 days before we caught it.  Unless this is a pet pot bellied pig, I would leave the ring in.  The ring it has doesn't really hurt for normal trough feeding, it when the pig pushs hard soil, it's applying a much stronger pressure.  Are you raising this pig for food?  They gain faster on fed grains than they do digging for roots to eat.   The ring is a teaching tool, by now your pig has learned not to apply the strong pressure that causes pain.  If you still insist on removing it, some rings have a s***w & hinge system, remove the s***w, it opens.  Others you need to snip the ring entirely through, which also can be painful to the pig as you are applying the pressure of snipping.

  4. you put a nose ring on a pig !?!?!

    why would you do thattt

  5. Wire snippers... cut it as close as you can to the pigs nose; then pull out the sections (you may want to have a helper, or two to help hold the pig steady, so you don't acidentally hurt them).

they should come out fairly easily... if it's bleeding/not healed though, you can put neosporin (the human kind works fine) on and around it... then smater it with bag balm/petrolum jelly. It'll keep the pic from l*****g it all off and help it heal!

    Hope this helps!

  6. You did not say wether you were going to keep this hog on a dirt pasture or in some type of confinement that does not have a dirt floor.  When I was young, my father kept hogs on pasture.  We made fence every year on retired alfalfa ground and the hogs naturally like to root and dig in the dirt looking for food and chewing on the roots.  (They were well fed, yet this is natural for them to do this)  We also put two rings in the sows nose to keep them from rooting.  The purpose of ring was to create some pain when they tried to root the ground, without these rings that would dig under the fences and tear them up.  The ring does not hurt them unless they are rooting.  So if you take the ring out and the hog is on a dirt pasture, be wary as the rooting will begin.  Personally, I would leave the ring in the nose, yet that is your call since it is your pig.

  7. Get  small pliers type wire cutters. Clip the ring in half and take each half out separately. It should cause the pig no pain at all. If you don't feel like you have a strong enough grip to cut the ring cleanly, find someone who does to help you.

  8. ya ya it's easy i live on a farm, and have tons of pigs everywhere. basically just get your villagers to start gathering on the pigs, quick put 2 on wood until you get 400 wood then put that mill up and throw the pigs on the mill to fatten. Now spend ur time farming for a bit until you age up, then you can start pumping out musketeers and rush their town center with hussars and falconnets

  9. TELL THE PID TO DO SO

    LOLZZ

  10. How old is this pig? If it is still young you may be able to hold him/her down and have someone snip it off with bolt cutters. Or have your local vet come over and do it if it is a large pig. that may be a better idea because if you accidentally hurt him/her they will remember and look at you in a negative way. Pigs have a good memory.

    Good Luck

  11. if it is like most rings, just spin it till you find the set s***w in it, remove the s***w and pull the ring apart aways and then back the ring out of the piercing, if you cant find the set s***w then you will have to cut it off with bolt cutters

  12. kill it 1st

  13. kill it first. then the pig wont notice

  14. The ring is to protect the pig and or to keep the pig from tear every thing. A pig can destroy land in a hurry or will try to root itself out of a pen, causing cut and infections... I would think it would be like our body rings... (I don't have one) but people I know say they do not hurt once they heal unless they or pulled or something like that....animals learn quick what their limits are... I think the pig would be just fine... more pain trying to remove it I would think....

  15. The pig will not thank you for trying to remove the ring. It is likely to cause some pain and they really prefer to leave it in despite preferring it had never been put in.

If you are confining the pig, so no free range for it, then it may be acceptable to remove it. But if it is going to be on pasture, leave the ring in so that the pig does not go wandering far from home, through gardens and into someone's slaughter house.
