Question:

Does anyone know how to reset or fix the lens for a Norcent Digital Camera XIAS - DCS-860?

The lens part of my camera seems to be stuck sticking out. Everytime I try to turn on the camera, it just makes this beeping sound and turns off. The screen remains blank. Only the green light turns on. I've tried a combination of buttons and tried recharging the battery, etc but nothing seems to work. Can anybody help me on this? Thanks.

  1. Hi Brian,

Sorry no one has given you anything to go on.  I will try.   What you are describing is a VERY common problem on the small digital cameras that have been bumped or dropped.  Something in the lens housing gets broken or off-centered,  not allowing the lens to retract properly.   It is an issue for a professional camera repair technician.   I have seen one camera after the other come into our shop with the same problem.  Most people decide to have it repaired... but some feel the charge is not cost effective and opt to put the repair fee on a new camera.  My advice is to take it in to the camera repair and ask the tech to give you an evaluation of the damage and an estimate of the repairs.   He will be fair in letting you know if the camera is worth fixing.

Hope I was able to give you some good advice.  And thank for reading.
