Does anyone know how to start up and maintain a successful business in New York City?

I would like to start a demolition business but have no idea where to begin. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

  1. Hi, this is a perfect question..PS I'm a contractor! OK so you will need a few things. First you will need your top 3 favorite names for your company. Then you can either file yourself or get a lawyer to check if the names clear and to list your entity. You will then file papers to obtain an EIN number, that's the companies social security number. And from there you will wait for the EIN, once you have that you will need, liability insurance which will be costly because your doing demolition. Also you will need workers comp, and disability insurance. We in construction spend most of our money on insurance! And then get your name out there, have a web site, business cards, and a list of contacts to call. Hey open the yellow pages and just call companies and see who will need your services! Oh and get yourself a smart accountant, our accountant has saved me so many times! I wish you the best of luck!


  2. Have a crisp and informative website, take advantage of free advertising on craigslist.org and try and network with contractors to see if they can throw you business.  Good luck.
