  1. well if you just got him he's probably scared of you. dont pet him for the first couple of days. dont pick him up either. feed him from your hand alot so he gets used to you and then you can pick him up. wash your hands before you pick him up because hamster have bad eyesight and depend of their noses to tell them if something is food. so if you smell like food, then he or she will bite.

    good luck.

  2. is there somthing you are doing that may bother the hamster/ are you letting him get enough sleep during the day?? You need to study up on your pet, animals are living things that you need to take good care of. not a little thing you keep around for show. read every magazine, article, book and websight yo can about hamsters. find the problemand  fix it,

  3. yes have you feed it cuz sometimes when they bite you is because sometimes when you finished eating and then u hold or thouch the hamster the hamster may smell the food smell still on you make sure you wash your hands first. get the hamster a treat if it still bites. give them a lesson hit it, but don't hit hard hit gentle. if it listens or squeak give them a threat because you hit too hard or it listened. or go to Petsmart and by a book about taking care of hamsters it help for me good luck with your hamster! :)

  4. Some hamsters do bite they are animals try not to handle it too much.

  5. first let it get to no your scent by sticking your hand in the cage don't move your hand then let it get on your hand then slowly rise like an elevator then them just keep doing that till it gets used to you then you can start scooping it from the side only ok need more info contact me

  6. It means it doesnt want to play anymore.

If you play too long its gonna get

stressed out and get wet tail if

you didnt know wet tail is a disease

caused from stress that can kill the hamster!

    so be careful! good luck:)

  7. First rub bedding between your fingers to smell friendly. Then give it a seed bettween the bars of the cage.

Once he starts to take it, put a treat in your hand and lay it flat in the cage. ( Rub bedding between your fingers before you do that).

Then, if he takes the treats, show him your hand and then scoop him up. put him down right away. hold him longer and longer each time for a week or until it feels comfortable.

Always wash your hands first and talk to it so it knows you are there.

  8. I got my first hamster(Zoey) in May(she's still with me). She looked so mean for the first couple of weeks. If you walk by the cage she would just naw on it and nip at you. Then I pulled out the good old gardening gloves. You have to tame your hamster by holding it alot with gloves and giving her treats when she's being nice and letting her run around in her ball. Hamsters also love a clean cage so clean it once a week. I read before to change water daily but I never do that because I put VitaDrops in Zoey's water and I don't want to waste them. She could also have ingrown teeth. Buy her from PetSmart, the Super Nut Knot Nibbler(somthing like that) so she chews on that instead of you. Give her a while. Good Luck!!! :)

  9. Sometimes they do bite.  If you just got it I would return it to the store and ask for a different one.

  10. Do NOT tame your hamster by wearing gloves. Hamsters can sense fear and this will agitate it more.

You need to take things slowly with it. Firstly, is it new? If so, let it get settled into its cage and try not to bother it for a few days while it adjusts.

Secondly, start by sitting near the cage and talking softly to it, so that it gets used to your voice. When you've done this a few times, place a CLEAN hand inside the cage (but don't reach for the hamster just yet). Hamsters are massively curious animals and it will come and explore this new item in its cage. Make sure your hand is palm down and when it seems a little more confident with its exploration, try giving it a little stroke. You might also want to try having a treat in your hand to show you aren't a threat. Mine loves raisins, but you can get all sorts that they might like. A piece of carrot peel, or even go all out and buy the specific hamster treats. A day or two of this and you are ready to pick it up!

It may be a little jumpy at first, so do not hold it too far off the ground in case it falls. Remember not to make any sudden movements and continue talking to it softly.

I know this seems like a really long winded way to do things, but trust me, it's best and when you've done it, it'll be far more satisfying.

  11. you cant make a hamster stop biting, its not a dog. return it, if you dont want it to bite you the rest of its life. and get gerbils, they are social and never bite. but get 2, because they are cuddly and social.
