Does anyone know how to tell if I have antique silverware?

I found some old silverware in my home and I was looking at it and it looks like some of it says PAT 1899 would this be worth something? It also has a name on it Davis and freeman.Where would I go to have these looked at?

Failing that, ask your family first then take silverware to a store to have it appraised.

I would take the flatware to an antique's dealer and ask for an honest appraisal.  Or, consider contacting an art historian who may have the knowledge, or be able to refer you to someone who does.

it may be worth a lot depending upon its condition. you should get it apraised
