Does anyone know how to use....?

an old fashioned top? My mom got it from Portugal when she visited recently. It is wooden and it has a string. i know that you wrap it around and pull it, but that never seems to work for me. Is there some type of trick to it, or do i just stink....?

I have two of them. Your doing it right. Make sure your string is wrapped around the top in the section where the hole is in the handle. Rest the tip of the top on a hard surface and hold the handle steady when you pull the string fast. It does take a little practice.
