  1. There is a school in Ohio to learn how to drive harness horses. I beleive the classes are taught in late sping (end of April, early May)

The best way to learn is to hook-up with a trainer or a stable. If you have a few thousand dollars, talk with a trainer, ask him if he'll claim a cheap horse for you (preferably one that is racing) and give him half of the horse for training and boarding the horse. Work with the horse and eventually you'll probably be allowed to drive him during his training.

You need to obtain a drivers license, which means proving to judges you can handle and race horses and then you have to be good enough for a horse's owner to be willing to let you drive their investment.

I wish you luck, and I'd love to hear how it works out for you!

  2. Find a harness racing facility! that would be the best way. There they can help you with finding a horse to be matched up with or they can help you find a horse that is right for you to buy and race yourself. They can also supply you with jockies.

  3. marry into a family   it seems uite the family business

mahammad ali really wanted to do it after boxing, but

found out it was harder than it looked

  4. Most professional harness riders I know grew up around horses and learned how to ride them on the farm; although most have learned from their youth, almost anyone of any age can learn how to do it, it is not that difficult, even Susan Looney won a race at the prestigous Meadowlands at age 16.
