Does anyone know if ACdelco brake pads have indicators so you know when its time to change the pads?

the stock brake pads that came with my 2008 impala, do they have indicators on the pads that make noise so you know for sure when its time to change them?... instead of guessing

i think they are ACdelco brake pads because thats what GM uses

  1. Not all dealers will install original equipment pads. You have to specify it or they will sometimes substitute "jobber' pads and charge you the GM price.

    With the exception of some of the cheap offshore brands, most pads come with the "squeeler" tab attached.


  2. Unlikely.  You can just pull a tire and look at how much meat is left.  If its 2008, it is unlikely you need new brake pads unless you ride your foot on the brake and then the pads are probably glazed.  If glazed, you can sand them down, but they are still fried anyway, it will come back.  

    How many miles on it?  They should last 20k at least.  I assume you are asking because they squeel?

  3. yes they do 'if your brakes are making noise get them checked

  4. Yes they do. Its somewhat hard to hear with the radio going. But if you roll your windows down and apply the brakes, you'll hear a faint high pitched squeal if they need to be replaced.

  5. I don't think so.

    There is part of the caliper, like a record needle that will rub on the rotor and squeal when the bonded, never riveted pads wear down.
