I heard that neither XM nor Sirius are doing that great, despite Howard's presence on Sirius, and that the 2 companies may merge, is this still a possibility? THANKS!

  1. It's XM that's lagging way behind Sirius. They and Sirius are awaiting government approval for a badly-needed merger.

Lee Abrams, head of XM programming, just jumped over to Viacom.

FYI: Howard Stern is getting $120 million for 5 years. Sirius is doing fine.

  2. Howard is sitting pretty.  His contract was $500M for 5 years, if you include his Sirius stock.

As stated above though, Sirius and XM are both in the red.  But their losses are decreasing each year, so they are making progress.  Hopefully that trend will continue and they can be in the black without merging, but I doubt that can happen.

  3. Both are still bleeding red (meaning neither have made a profit) and this is why they are merging...hoping that they will finally turn black.. however they are being met with resistance from some radio companies putting demands on the companies.. to basically allow a third company to buy in on the satellite system (such as clear Channel) and air over it instead
