Does anyone know if I can use a portable TV outdoors in Oahu, Hawaii?

I wish to buy a portable tv to watch while fishing in Hawaii. I heard that we won't be able to watch any programmes if we don't have cable. Is that true?

If you're relying on bunny ears to catch cable (which it sounds like you will be without cable), you'll only be able to catch a very limited number of stations.  You can count on being able to catch KHON, NBC, KFVE (which are channels 2, 8, and 5).

Of course how well the stations come in on your tv will depend on your location and the strength of your bunny ears.

Keep in mind that when the tv stations go digital in February, you won't be able to do this at all.
