Does anyone know if Ron Hemelgarn's son Brian is alive?

I went to school with Brian and my mom told me that her granddaughter (my niece) said that Brian had died, but I couldn't find anything about his death online. Does anyone have any information regarding this? I just want to find out if it's true, or just a rumor. Thank you.

I also tried to do a thorough search for you and nothing about the loss of his son came up anywhere.
