the last one came out on september 2007. and there are a lot of things they can improve. i can hardly wait for the next generation.

if not, does anyone know of another e-reader that supports html, pdf, txt, doc, rtl, and perhaps lit? with no DRM!

the kindle doesen't do that but are there any others?

  1. They just updated it in July 2008.

You may want to take a look at some of the latest articles about the Sony Reader.   It will view PDF's, DOC (if you have Microsoft Office to convert it to RTF) as well as epub.

Best to go to the sony website too and read about the improvements.

BTW it is interesting to note that the Kindle doesn't yet support EPUB but the Sony Reader does.

    Formats supported according to Wikipedia

DRM-free Text: BBeB Book (LRF), PDF, TXT, RTF, ePub, certain MP3s (unprotected), JPG (smaller is better) etc.

It supports so many formats, that was the selling point for me.

    Good luck
