  1. Fax "can" work over VoIP... but is not guaranteed, regardless of provider.  This is because there are many factors that effect data transfer quality, not just the carrier.

It's a given that your inernet speed must be fast and reliable.

Set your Fax machine to it's lowest data speed.  This will increase your chances of successful transmission/reception.

Your VoiP ATA adapter must support G.711u Codec (most do).

Just be sure the Codec is "set" to G.711u.  Often carriers will preset Codec, or recommend customers set their codec to G.729a, or even G.726, which is good for voice, but not Fax.

In the case of Vonage, the connection quality must be set to "High", which is equivelant to G.711u.  Any lower setting will not work for Fax.

The VoIP carriers I use (CallCentric, InPhonex, Les.net, VoIP.ms) will also work with Fax, if the Codec is set to G.711u.

    Hey RM:

I would like to know on what basis you claim that Phone Power is the ..."only" ... VoIP service that supports Fax ???

I checked out their web site and there is not a single word mentioning supporting Fax service???  So, on what basis do you make your claim?

  2. Hey Sam,

Fax can work over VoIP, but it depends on which VoIP provider you go with. I think that Phone Power is one of the only VoIP providers that support fax.

    Try http://voip-reviewer.com/phonepower.php

Hope that helps and good luck!

  3. that depends on ur provider, it will work with vonage!
