I want to know if anyone know's for sure that a moto gp or a AMA race bike has no batteries and no starters. If so will the bike be fine with out it? Can we run a smaller battery than usual just to keep the RPM and speedometer on thanks.

  1. GP bikes don't have a starter motor, but they do have a small battery to run electronics. They are started up with a trolley with an engine and small wheel, which is placed against rear wheel to spin it up.

  2. The modern day race bike does not need a starter as the weigh to much. MotoGP bike and now even most race bike use whats called a slave starter.

Most will still run a small battery as the bikes contain so much electrics.

You cant push start the MotoGP bikes like the answerer above wrote, they run too high compression.

The 125's and 250's you still can however.

  3. The RPM and speedo meter would work even without the battery cuz they are mechanical not electric

  4. No they don't. The reason is weight. To start a G P bike for racing, you need to push start it.
