Does anyone know if football will ever be an olympic sport if not what r the chances of it?

i doubt it ever will be. Its mostly an American sport and those sports don't seem to become Olympic sports to often. Baseball is an American sport to but its very popular throughout the world so that why it is an Olympic sport. Football, I would give almost no chance of it

with the olympics lasting for only two weeks gridiron wouldnt have time to finish the tourney. Unless the IOC is willing to expand these games it just wont happen.. Overall Odds, they're somehow pretty high... By 2009 the IFAF would have about 60-65 full member nations. many countries want to bring out their best and give this sport a try. there are 50 nations split into 5 continents that play the sport. it is actually getting popular worlwide!!! The NFL has launched their olympic campaign in 2000 setting a possible target date for 2012.. and are doing a great job so far. plus.. read these other interseting articles below.....

na, football is only popular in north america, there wouldnt be enough world interest for football to be an olympic sport.

No. Football games go outside the maximum time of the olympics. Football also is not very popular in other countries.

It's not feasible. The Olympics are on for 16 days and football games can be played only once a week.

Gridiron afraid not it is not an International sport . Indeed only the Americans call it football ! The best handling game would be rugby sevens which has a huge appeal . That would be something !!

The chances are pretty slim because It would only be USA, Canada and a few European countries. There won't be enough teams.

It will never be an Olympic sport.  It's called "American football" for a reason.  We're the only country that plays it.
