  1. There is a story in the 4th or 5th grade anthology used in the majority of public schools' reading programs - about orangutans that were orphaned and other orangutans raised them.  Humans obviously had a hand in it to, but the crux was to show the similarities of family structures with Orangutans and humans - Anyway, they respond to the same stimuli as a human babies would in terms of getting their needs met from what I've read.

  2. I worked with Orangutans many times, and I can tell you that the babies will calm down with any kind of cooing or singing as do most primate young, unless, of course, they are hungry.  Then they need feeding.

Orangutans are always best left in the wild.  But even that is becoming more and more difficult as man encroaches onto, and destroys their habitat in the name of money.  Almost all the jungles in Borneo have been mowed down for the sake of "Oil Palms" used for cosmetics.  Stupid and ridiculous.

Destroying forests for money really, really pisses me off.

  3. worth a try.

  4. Depends on our personalities, and the song.
