Does anyone know if it is possible to get a Texas teacher's certificate if you have a marijuana charge?

It is a misdemeanor possession charge and was over 5 years ago.

  1. According to the Texas Education Agency, a person with an appropriate educational background may apply for certification. Those without a traditional teaching degree may seek alternative certification, but must must also submit to an individual district's additional requirements. However, all applicants must submit to a criminal background check, persuant to Sections 232.901-232.909 of the Texas Administrative Code.  


  2. You should be able to get the certificate with no problem, but finding a teaching job may not be as easy.
