Does anyone know if it is possible to paint countertops?

My fiance and I don't have the money at the moment to replace the countertops in our house right now but they are hideous! So I was just wondering if anyone knew of any solutions....I have heard that you can paint them somehow but I am not sure if that is true or how to go about doing it. Any suggestions are greatly appriciated! Thank you!!!

they make paint specifically for countertops but i can't see it working for very long without chipping considering the amount of abuse that a countertop gets. i have never used it but it just doesn't make sense that it would work. besides it's not cheap. i recently bought a 10 ft and an 8 ft countertop at home depot and it was a about $160.00. i'm guessing that countertop paint would cost between 60 and 80 dollars. good luck whatever you decide.

Yes, you can, but it is not very durable

no, you can not use paint.

there is laminate that you can cover it .

go to home depot and check it out. you can always ask someone there for any suggestions

My Aunt and Uncle did it and it did not look good.  It looked better than what was there, but not good.  My neighbor didn't like his counter tops so they bought new over-layment and glued it on.  

We tiled ours.  I found some really inexpensive tiles, bought the necessary supplies and borrowed a friends tile cutter.  I think we spent about $50 and it looks awesome.
