Does anyone know if limewire is illegal?

is it against the law to download songs from lime wire. i don't do it but i was going to until a friend told me that it was i don't know if i believe her please help

LimeWire itself isn't illegal, but if you use it to download copyrighted files for free (this includes music, pictures, videos and even documents) that you are effectively stealing from the owners and THAT is illegal.

This is regardless of whatever country you're in; the law is the same all over. If you share things which have a licence on LimeWire than that is fine, as the owner has given you permission to download the file. Otherwise you are doing something illegal.

Downloading music IS illeagle... but not the program...

but everyone does it, and your not going to like prision over a few songs...

there is a LOT of people that download off of limewire, and the cops dont care about them, just the people that supply it...so.. dont worry haha
